Weekend, Tank, and Vegetarian!! OH MY!!!

Good afternoon, everyone! I hope you had a great weekend!! Mine was pretty good, but I didn't do a whole lot. You know how the weekend before payday is.... BROKE! That's me!! LOL

Today has been ok so far. I talked to my husband through Blackberry Messenger. I haven't been able to talk to him for long for about a week or so. They have him so busy. He's usually working 16 or so hours a day. I just talked to him for a couple of minutes, but it made me happy!

I made an appointment for my Tank. His ears are still bothering him and I need some heart worm medicine and some flea and tick medication. So, tomorrow we will be going to the vet. He's pretty good at the vet, but hopefully he doesn't try to climb into my lap like he has before.

I also made an appointment for myself. It may actually surprise some people that read my blog, namely my family. I've decided that I want to go vegetarian/vegan. I will start out vegetarian and then go vegan. It will take some getting used to, but I am so excited about this. My sweet husband is supportive. We have talked about it before. Sometimes, he wants to go vegetarian, but I think he likes meat too much.  And that's ok. I'm doing this for myself. He will be supportive and if he want's to do it or doesn't want to do it, I will be supportive either way.

I can't wait for my appointment!!

I hope everyone has a great Monday and it continues throughout the week!!

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

1.What secret indulgence do you act on while your spouse is away? (from Devil Dog Darling)
-My secret indulgence would probably be books and that's not really a secret!
2.If you were a spice, what would you be? (from New Girl On Post)
-Cinnamon. It's hearty and warm, but doesn't have a bite to it.
3.Where do you go for support when your significant other is deployed? (from Texas Meets Washington)
-My family, friends and other military spouses that I have met.
4.What is the oldest thing you own? (from A Troop’s Girl)
-The oldest thing I own is my bible. Two of my great aunts gave it to me for Christmas in 1989. It has my name engraved on it.
5.How did you vision your future pre-military? (from Daddy’s Duty)
-Married to someone that I love. I am now married to someone that I love and it just so happens that he is in the military. I wouldn't change anything about my life, except deployments!

I hope that everyone has a great Friday and a great weekend! Take care and God Bless!

5 MONTHS!!!

HOLY COW!!! I absolutely can NOT believe it's been 5 months. Again, I must say that I am so grateful that time is passing by so quickly. I've always said that the weekends are the worst. I still stand by that, but with football season coming up the weekends will pass by so much quicker. I HATE that I can't watch football with my sweet husband, but I am so glad to have something to do/watch on the weekend and make them pass by even faster.

Not a lot has been going on since I last posted, but I think I got rid of the virus or whatever my computer had. I changed all of my passwords and downloaded Mozilla Firefox. I'm using that now instead of Internet Explorer. I get to use my Facebook and email now.

I hope that everyone has had a great week so far and continues to have a great week! Take care and God Bless!

23 August 2010

Monday, Monday

Today has been a rough day and it didn't have anything to do with this deployment. OK, maybe a little. Somehow, I got a virus on my computer. UGH!! Normally when something happens to my computer, I take it to my husband and say I did this and then that happened and he fixes it. It's hard for him to fix something when he's thousands of miles away!

Luckily, I ran through my virus stuff that DH makes me put on my computer. Nothing came up! I'm still not sure what exactly happened, but with my sisters help I changed my passwords on my email and Facebook. After that, I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and now everything works! YAY!!

Another thing I am proud of I woke up at 0745 this morning and I didn't have a nap! I normally nap around 1500 and sleep anywhere from an hour to two. That was completely messing up my sleep schedule. I did awesome on eating healthy today and I had my workout done by 1200. I am pretty happy with myself today, minus the whole computer thing. But, that's fixed, so I can't complain too much!

I hope everyone has a great week! Take care and God Bless!!

MilSpouse Friday Fill In and Fitness Friday

This week’s questions are:

1.If you could be a fugitive from the law for whatever reason, what would your crime be? (from It’s a Hooah Life)
I think my crime would be not living as much as I should.

2.How long do you think you will be a military family? (from Julie the Army Wife)
At first I thought my husband would be a lifer. Now, I'm not so sure. I guess it depends on what happens during his R&R. Sorry, I can't tell you more than that right now!

3.What’s your favorite recipe? (from Keep Calm and Soldier On)
My husband's salmon. I don't know how he cooks it, I just know it's so good and has salmon and tomatos and a sauce to go with it.

4.What would you want your last five words to be when you leave this life? (from My Goal is Simple)
What a life I had!

5.Where do you hope to retire? (from Pennies from Heaven)
I've always wanted to live in Arizona!

Now, on to Fitness Friday!

I don't know if I've said, but I moved up to Level 3 on the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels. It's HARD, but I love it. It's my first week doing Level 3 and I am so sore, but in a good way. I've been eating pretty healthy, but I have a snack every once in a while. I haven't really lost any weight since I've started doing this (which is a BIT discouraging), but I know I'm losing inches because my cloths fit better. I love feeling the changes and that makes me want to keep at it!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Take care and God Bless!

Not Much Going On

I thought I would post because it's been a few days, but there really isn't a lot to talk about at the moment. I just started reading the book Faith Deployed by Jocelyn Green. I really like it so far. I think between it and some of the other books I'm reading or have read I am on my way to becoming a better wife. That's not to say I was a bad wife to begin with, but these books are just giving me another perspective on the kind of wife that I want to be and that my husband deserves.

I went to the doctor today to do a recheck on my blood work. I should get the results next week when I go back. I'm really hoping that I won't have to take Vitamin D anymore, but if I do... that's ok.

My sweet husband and I have talked a lot over the past few days. (Thank you, Verizon!!) It was especially awesome early the other morning. It was probably around 0400 my time, so it was around 1330 his time. I was having a nightmare and he sent me a message at just the right time to wake me up. I thanked him for sending me the message later in the day, and he said that he just had an urge to talk to me. That was God talking to him for me, and I am very grateful to both God and my husband.

Tank and Shadow are doing good. Shadow turned one year old on 8 August. I'm glad that he will be getting out of the kitten stage soon. He wakes me up in the middle of the night. He will jump on the bed by my face, take his paw and pat me on the face. No claws, just using the pad of his foot. It's so sweet, but makes me so tired the next day. Tank has been wanting a lot of attention the past week. I give him a lot of attention, but I know that he really wants the attention from his dad. I can't wait to see him when DH comes home for R&R. It will probably make me cry!

Speaking of crying, I have been overly emotional this month. I'm not sure what it is, but I seem to be crying about everything.

Anyway, that's what's going on in my world. I hope everyone is having a great day and it continues into the weekend. Take care and God Bless!!

Weekend Review

I didn't do a whole lot this weekend, so this won't be a long post at all!

Saturday I had a couple of errands to run. I was hoping to get done in time to get to the post office and mail off a package, but I didn't. I had to run to Pet Smart to get something for Tank's ears. I hope it helps. Does anybody else's dog have problems with their ears? I'm not sure if it's allergies, a yeast infection (he had one at Thanksgiving last year), or what. They seem to bother him all the time. I've been doing ear mite drops, but they don't seem to help. Anyway, then I had to find a towel for my hubs. He doesn't like the brown issue (scratch-your-face-off towels is what he called it), so I got him a new towel. I went to the post office after, but they were already closed.

Sunday... I didn't do a whole lot, but I did meet up with some other local military spouses. It seemed to be just what I needed. I got out and interacted with other people around my age and most of them are going through a deployment. I felt kind of weighted down before I got there and when I left... I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. It was fantastic!

Today, I ran to the post office to ship off the package. I'm also trying to get on a sleep schedule. My sleeping sucks, so I'm working on it. I've already did one walk/run and I plan on doing another one a little later plus my regular workout. I'm ready to have my energy back and feel like my old self.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and it continues into a great week! Take Care and God Bless!

20 Weeks and MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

So, first things first... 20 weeks!!! 140 days!!! We still have a bit of time before R&R, but I can't believe it's been 20 weeks. I know, I say the same thing every week, but every week I am amazed. I think I read a quote on another blog today that said something to the effect of the days are long, but the years are short. I completely agree. At the beginning of this deployment, I could not see myself making it to a month, and now here we are at 20 weeks. I can't wait to see him! I am so ready for one of his hugs that it's not even funny!

And now on to MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

This week’s questions are:

1.What is ONE thing you’d like civilians to understand about being a military family?
That joining the military wasn't a 'last resort' for us. We didn't need the healthcare, the steady paycheck, or any of the benefits. My husband signed up because he loves his country and he wanted to serve.

2.What is your favorite mistake?
I have nothing for this one. I've been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to come up with an answer. I'm at a loss...

3.What indulgence could you give up for a year?
This is really hard! I would say getting mani's/pedi's, but I don't really get those that often. I'm definitely NOT giving up getting my hair cut or my eyebrows waxed. I guess my indulgence would be buying magazines. I could give them up because I can go into a store and read them, or I can find the article somewhere online. I still love my magazines!

4.If you could be a winged animal, what would you be?
I would be a bird. It doesn't matter what kind as long as it's pretty!

5.What is one question you’d like to see asked in a future MFF?
Again, at a loss. I have no idea.

Head over to Wife of a Sailor to join in on the fun!!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Take Care!!

Birthday Weekend...

My birthday was on Saturday. I went shopping with my sisters. We went to Kohl's, SAM's, WalMart, on post to the PX, Commissary, and the Class Six. We also had to go to the post office to send off a couple of packages to my husband. After all that, we came home to take a nap. After our nap, we fixed supper (steak and salad) and had a couple of drinks. We had some margaritas and a few Jager Bomb's. I don't normally do that, but it's nice to have fun and let loose every once in a while.

We were sitting outside and I saw not one, but TWO shooting stars. How amazing is that?!? It was such a great birthday, especially since my husband is halfway around the world. Speaking of him, I didn't get to talk to him, but he sent me a message. I love him so much!!

Today, I slept in to help myself recover! I haven't done a whole lot else. I did a little school work and made a grocery list for tomorrow.

I hope everyone's weekend was as beautiful as mine! Have a great week and take care!!

MilSpouse Friday Fill In #7

This week’s questions are:

1.What is something you wished you’d learned to do earlier in life?
A second language. I guess it would have to be Spanish, but I would like to learn a little of the most common languages.

2.What is your biggest pet peeve with the military?
I would say not being able to rely on anything they tell you regarding dates and times.

3.What tourist attraction near you have you never seen?
I don't think there is one that I haven't been to at some point in my life.

4.What are you avoiding doing right now?
Vacuuming out my car!

5.Wine, beer or liquor?
I guess I'm going to go with liquor. I HATE beer and can't find a wine I like. No Patron though, PLEASE! That's another story for another time!

Ok. Now, everybody hop over to Wife Of A Sailor and join in!!

05 August 2010

19 Weeks!!!

Today marks 19 weeks for this deployment. I am so glad that it is going by pretty fast, but right now I feel like it's dragging. I've started thinking about getting a part time job to help out with paying off the debt and saving money, but I worry that I won't be able to take off when he comes home for R&R. I mean, it's just a part time job... I could quit if I really wanted to. I guess I will think on it some more and talk about it to DH whenever I get a chance to.

This week has been pretty good so far. I've exercised every day (I haven't today yet, and I have to do abs, YUCK!) and I've been eating pretty healthy. Yesterday, my eyelid started itching pretty bad. As I was scratching it, I noticed a little bump on it. When it didn't quit itching and started swelling, I took a Benadryl. This is the second time it's happened since I've been back home, and I will be talking to the doctor about it when I go this month.

Other than that, not a whole lot is going on. My birthday is coming up. Another year older, SIGH! Oh well, hopefully only good things come during this next year.

I hope everyone has had a great week! Take care!

02 August 2010

TWITTER!!!

I finally broke down and got a Twitter account. I don't know how much I will use it, but it will be a nice way to keep up with everyone. My username is @mehimarmy.  I want everyone with a Twitter to leave a comment so I can add you to my Twitter.

On another note, I start my first class today! This class is going towards my Associate's degree. I am so excited, and I can't wait until I'm finished! I'm hoping to be done by the time my husband is home from deployment, but if I'm not I should be almost finished. After that, depending on where we are and what we are doing, I will probably get a job.

I hope everyone had a good weekend! Have a great week and take care!!

01 August 2010

Hello August!!

I'm so glad that a new month is here. It makes it seem like there is less time until my husband gets home. I checked my Donut of Misery today, and we are at 35%!! It's slowly working its way around, and I can't wait until it's 65% done and only 35% left.

Today is also Day 130! Sometimes its hard to believe that it's been that long, and sometimes its hard to believe that its ONLY been this long. But, I am so grateful that we have found a way to communicate. We switched phone services from AT&T to Verizon. I got us both a Blackberry. They have a Blackberry Messenger system, and it doesn't cost to talk to him anytime I want! I love that!!

August also means a LOT of birthdays in my family. I can count 6 right off the top of my head, and I know that there are more. My is coming up. I can't believe I'm going to be 28! It seems like just yesterday I was graduating high school, and this summer we had our 10 year reunion. It's mind boggling!

I hope everyone has a great Sunday, a great week, and a great month of August!! Take care!
