Dog Tags
I've been thinking since I've found out that DH is getting deployed about dog tags. I've heard that some spouses wear them while their significant other is deployed, and I've read that some don't. I've always wondered where it came from for the spouse to wear the dog tag. I know that I will be wearing them while DH is deployed, and it will also have his wedding ring on it. His ring is tungsten, and they don't have anything that will cut it off if that needed to happen so he would have to lose his finger. We decided together that he would leave it here, and I would wear it on the dog tags that I would wear while he is deployed. So my question is: do you wear dog tags when your spouse is deployed? Why or why not?

Well my personal oppinion I would wear my husbands dog tags if he wanted me to but Iwould probable hang them up on my review mirror I think its GREAT if you where them who knows if B gets deployed I probrable will wear them everyday..lol..
I would absolutely wear them if he left them for me.
I wear my husbands dog tags every day and I have his wedding ring on the chain too : ) I think it is really special to do and I get to kiss his ring every morning and night!
I also wear his dogtags, it's my connection to him while he's away.
My husband and I just talked about this last night. We are both anti-dog tags as it has full social security numbers on them. You can find out every bit of information about someone if you have their SSN. As a security measure he won't even wear it around his neck - It stays in his boot.
I don't wear my hubby's dog tags and he prefers it that way. It has way too much info on it to make it worth the chance it could be lost. Plus, I love jewelry... and dog tags just don't jive with my style.
I don't wear my hubs' dog tags mostly because I have a major nickel allergy and if the tag OR chain have even a hint of nickel in them, I will break out in the most insane rash. I am with everyone else about the "too much info" on them though... I do, however, wear his ring (on my index finger) while he is in the field or deployed. It has too much bling and also requires inspections every 6mo. - not something I want put in the mail to have inspected. I have decided to get him a plain band that he can wear when I am safekeeping his real one.
I've never worn my hubby's dog tags ... but always welcome a 'remember me' piece of jewelry before deployments. =)
Wow my husband's ring is tungsten too, and I never thought about them having to got off his finger... wow. Hmm well my husband has not deployed yet, since he has only been in the military a short time, but I would love to wear his dog tags when he does!
I don't wear Sean's dogtags and never will. It's just not for me. Even Sean doesn't wear them unless he absolutley has too.
